There are a number of things that could fit this category - hats, t-shirts, competitions, etc. But I wanted to show you one thing - a merchandiser. The pictures above show the first color rough based on store feedback. Roger, Longworth's Brand/Sales director, and I had taken a trip to Colorado. We met with several representative specialty ski and running shops in and around Boulder.

While speaking with the buyer for Christy's, I sketched out our first version of the merchandiser based on the criteria she stated would be pertinent to their stores use and function. Once back home, I put together measurements and had mocks made out of wood for pricing. We ended up having the displays made from the same plastic that football helmets are made - ABS plastic.

The most challenging aspect to this project was the inclusion of an interactive video unit (miniature kiosk) we wished to include with the OPEDIX display. Most stores would not allow us an outlet for powering it, so if we were to include a video (which we felt was crucial to telling the story of this new product) we needed a solution, and fast. After a lot of research, phone calls, visits to Radio Shack, Best Buy, calling on Electricians and Electrical engineers etc - I came across a custom video unit that was powered by a battery brick ( a collection of 24-D batteries daisy chained). On just the battery power, the unit with one speaker and a seven-inch video screen will play 30-seconds of video 50-times a day for 6-months. We needed 1-minute and with a selling season of 3-months - it works beautifully! The video unit can be sent separate or attached to the merchandising display unit.

People LOVED the button and the video. The tactile experience, the video, the sound - is engaging and fully grabs people's attention and interest. Word back from a multitude of trade shows, is that EVERYONE loved to interact with the kiosk.
